Slovenia and Croatia: Day 1

We are back in the U.S.A. now, which means we have an internet connection again after traveling around for so long. Here is a photo journey of our first day of traveling to Slovenia and Croatia. Sorry we didn't take any pictures of us getting pulled over the the Slovenian police, but we did take a picture of the beautiful sunset.

Come back and read about our first full day in Croatia and finding a colosseum better than the one in Rome!

Filling up with gas was expensive.
It was around 60-70 U.S. dollars to fill up.
Road sign pointing to Croatia.

Slovenia is known as the "Sunny side of the Alps."
From this picture you can tell it lives up to its name.

I joked with Ben that this picture looked like an ad for
the Ford Fiesta that we were driving. The Alps make
everything look good.

A random town in Slovenia that we drove through on the way
to Lake Bled.

The best burgers ever. If it is the size of
your head you know it must be delicious!

Lake Bled. You can rent a row boat or have them shuttle you
around the lake for a nice little chunk of change.

Us by Lake Bled.

A castle on the hill.

This is an island that the boats row you out to.
We didn't have time for it, but it can be a fun activity if you
are staying there.

Here is the resort we stayed at. We didn't even know it was a resort
until we got there. We stayed in one of there apartments,
which helped make meal time a little cheaper because
we could eat in if we wanted.
The beaches of Croatia are a little rocky. So make sure you
bring some sturdy sandals or water shoes.

We were just a few miles from the town of Porec.

Porec is beautiful at night.

There are all sort of tourists who visit Croatia.
You have people like me and Ben and then you have the
more "rich and famous" types.

Olive oil and any kind of oil is sold at food stands in the town.
